Hyaluron - Why it is important for smooth & wrinkle-free skin

Hyaluron

Hyaluron is the anti-aging agent of the hour alongside collagen. Why hyaluron is so important for smooth and wrinkle-free skin is explained in this article.

Hyaluron acid: The natural anti-aging agent

Hyaluron is a liquid produced by the human body. It is a dual sugar, which is colorless and viscous and ensures that the movement sequences function smoothly and that the skin retains its elasticity.

However, the body's own production of hyaluronic acid decreases with increasing age, which causes signs of aging skin and joint degeneration.

Where does hyaluronic acid occur in the human body?

Hyaluron is a significant component of the human body, which is therefore also produced by the body itself. It is distributed throughout the organism and is found in the membranes of the cells, but mainly in the synovial fluid and the connective tissue of the skin. In fact, the skin contains the largest amount of hyaluronic acid, more precisely its upper layer, also called epidermis.

Miracle weapon hyaluron

The feature that makes hyaluron so interesting for cosmetics is that the substance can bind a lot of liquid. The vitreous bodies of our eyes are a good example of this. They consist of 98% water and only 2% hyaluron, which bind this enormous amount all by itself.

As the main component of the synovial fluid, hyaluron ensures that all our movements are properly cushioned and we can go through life without pain. This is because the water bound by hyaluron is not compressible and can therefore carry an enormous load.

As a component of the skin cells, it helps the skin to remain taut and elastic and the healing of wounds is fast.

From the age of mid-twenties, however, the proportion of endogenous hyaluron gradually decreases as it is increasingly broken down by enzymes.

Delicate skin and smoothed wrinkles - Why hyaluron is so important

As hyaluron binds vast amounts of water within the cells, it provides sufficient moisture and in the course of this, for a firm and wrinkle-free skin. It also helps to block UV radiation in a natural way.

With increasing age, however, the body's own production of hyaluronic acid gradually ebbs away, which means that the padding effect also gradually decreases and the first wrinkles form.

Creams in cosmetics enriched with hyaluron

The water-binding property of hyaluronic acid makes it very popular, especially in the field of cosmetics. 1 g of the acid can bind a whole 6 l of water. If the body's own production decreases, special creams containing this substance can be used.

In the production of these creams it is important to process both long- and short-chain hyaluronan molecules in order to achieve the best possible effect.

Long-chain hyaluron molecules ensure that the effect is immediately visible, but it does not last long. Due to their size, the molecules cannot penetrate the skin, but only remain on the surface. There they store liquid, which provides a fresh complexion almost at the push of a button. In addition, the salts contained in hyaluronic acid act as a protective layer, as they ensure that all harmful substances are repelled and the liquid remains in the skin.

Short-chain hyaluronic acid molecules, on the other hand, penetrate deep into the skin and therefore remain there longer, cushioning it from within. They also have a positive effect on the metabolism, which helps the skin cells to renew themselves more quickly and thus refines the skin's appearance.

Hyaluronic acid in the form of syringes for targeted application

If the effect of creams containing hyaluronic acid is not sufficient, you can use the injection method. The substance is injected directly into the desired areas of the skin so that it can develop its effect there. Particularly popular is not only the injection of wrinkles, but also the injection of hyaluronic acid to the lips. These become more voluminous and fuller. The results of both lip and wrinkle injections are considered very natural compared to Botox treatments. In addition, the body completely breaks down the hyaluron injected after half a year at the latest, which is why no further appointment is necessary if you decide to cancel the procedure after all. If the effect is to last, it is necessary to inject hyaluronan regularly into the lips and skin.

Beautiful skin from the inside out - hyaluron as a nutritional supplement

The additional intake of hyaluronic acid is also possible in the form of powder, capsules or small drinking ampoules.

If hyaluron is taken pure, research has shown that only one tenth of it overcomes the barrier of the intestine, since the rest is already decomposed by enzymes beforehand. To counteract this, hyaluronic acid is often enriched with hesperidine. This substance is extracted from the white skin layer of various citrus fruits and prevents this decomposition.

In general, it should be mentioned that the skin needs about 3 to 4 weeks to completely renew itself. Therefore, all hyaluron preparations that are taken orally should be used for at least 4 weeks to achieve optimal results.

Various studies have shown that the regular intake of hyaluron powder, capsules or ampoules provides a noticeable increase in moisture within the skin and also visibly cushions wrinkles.

Hyaluron as a food supplement is a good alternative for all those who want to supply their body with as much hyaluron as possible and are rather sceptical about surgical procedures in the form of injections. Since it is a substance that the body also produces itself, side effects are usually excluded and the supplements can be taken daily and over a long period of time without hesitation. Oral intake is particularly suitable for people who have to deal with dry skin, because in addition to the external effects in the form of creams containing hyaluronic acid, the body can also be optimally supplied with the substance from the inside, regenerate and shine in a new light.

Smooth skin the natural way - the body's own protein collagen

Of course, in addition to hyaluron, other natural substances can also be used, which cushion the skin, keep it elastic and give it a radiant complexion. These include collagen, for example.

Collagen is a protein that the human body produces itself. It is a structuring protein that ensures that the body gains firmness and does not collapse. It is found in the skin as well as in the bones or teeth.

If you take a closer look at the structure of the skin, it is noticeable that collagen forms a kind of scaffold for the skin. The more unstable it becomes, the more tight the skin loses its firmness and the first wrinkles appear. But how can additional collagen be supplied to the body from outside to counteract this?

Similar to hyaluron, collagen can also be supplied to the body in the form of creams, capsules and drinking ampoules or by injection. When taking collagen orally, a larger dose of 5-10g should be chosen. Since a large part of the collagen is usually broken down into its individual components on its way to the stomach, a larger quantity is needed to ensure that approx. 10% of the collagen reaches the bloodstream and thus the skin.
